fightingtorque

With the arrival of Child #1 I needed to find a way to haul a whole family and gear, without compromising pace.

Our family has always had estate cars, but Dad recently upgraded from ageing 505 Pug to a quick shifting V6 Audi. This set me thinking, and when I stumbled across this 8-pot number whilst buying petrol, a plan was hatched. 12 Hours later a deal was done and we were burning gas at 22mpg.

PERFORMANCE
3 litre V8!!

Max Power: 215bhp
Max Speed: Quite fast.
0=60: Not sure, but pretty quick.

Downside is automatic transmission, although it is 5-speed and has a sport mode. Also a shame there is no air-con, instead has some unnecessarily complex double sunroof arrangement. Wheels are a nice design but only 15 inch (criminal decision!).more>

ON THE ROAD
It's a nice ride, although it needs a bit of fightingtorque attention in the suspension department to make it better, probably needs the back end lowering relative to the front and a stiffer rear anti-roll bar.

Off the twisty bits you can't fault it - superb on the motorway, and at any time either of the pedals is extremely effective at unleashing smooth but serious changes of velocity.

HISTORY
Bit early to say, but....

So far it seems to be in very fine order

It's a '93 with 130k on the clock. It was owned by a reasonably high miler for first 100k, then has been used less since then. Lots of history, and good signs of care - the toolkit is still complete and it's pretty much unmarked inside and out.more>
