A chinese built car 'referenced' from the Seat Toledo, with a Ford CVH engine. They don't have much cred. in China, but the tuning capabilities of Ford CVH, Jetta Mk2 floorpan and with a bit of help the right people should be huge. Lastly, we supply parts to Chery, so it's nice to fly the flag.more>

DOES IT GO?
Almost....
Twin Weber '40 carburettors and Emerald programmed ignition ECU are running a standard engine with a piper 285 cam, and a Chinese 4-1 exhaust manifold and sports system (now on the third iteration, and this one seems to perform). Original efi unit quoted at 88 HP, according to my race technology meter I have added another 20-25, the main limitation being the unmodified head. 0-60 in 10.5 seconds and a top speed close to 120mph. ANYTHING ELSE?
I was afraid you'd ask..
Just got a set of VW Jetta bilstein struts on which has improved the previous bouncy rolly handling. 15 inch wheels with Dunlop Direzza 195/55 have been excellent! With the lowered suspension the 195/55 was rubbing the arches, even after rolling the lips. So the only solution was another track day to wear them out and replace with 195/50 on the front. Finally got some half decent brakes using Santana 2000 vented discs, old audi 100 calipers and Ferodo DS2000 pads. Got some Jetta powerflex bushes but apparently they wouldn't fit. That should sort it for now.

WHAT's NEXT?
With a quickest lap at Tianma of 1:26.004 it is among the quickest roadgoing 1600cc cars in Shanghai, although the best are about 2 seconds faster than this. Now seriously looking at a turbo conversion, I have an RST exh manifold here and www.silkventures.com may be able to provide a working intercooler and turbo. Bit of piperwork later and we may be in real business.
